There are a few basic principles for the board. It shouldn't be all that surprising.
01. BE RESPECTFUL
Have fun. You came here to have some, so please don't ruin my day and everyone else's by being a drama queen. Although incredibly entertaining to read, we don't delight when it actually happens. I am not your babysitter, and neither is anyone else. If you have a serious problem with someone please take it somewhere else and don't bring it up on the site or the chat box. I will not tolerate legitimate slander against any member here either. Please be courteous to everyone while you are here, or at least civil. We do realize you may not love everyone you come across, although we kind of hope you do.
No trolling, no spamming, no sexist, racist, or otherwise rude content is allowed on this site. If you are found disrespecting any member in any way, you will leave the site immediately unless specified otherwise. Behaving in a relatively mature manner is not something anyone should need a reminder of. Do not lie, do not cheat or deceive us in any way. These are our basic principles. We value our integrity here.
02. BE REALISTIC
Yes, this is a roleplay. It does require you to suspend disbelief, however that doesn't mean your character is invincible. No power play. Make sure your character has flaws, and good ones too. Those are the most fun characters to play - the more imperfect they are, the better! Power play is only "technically" allowed under one circumstance, and that is only unless you are given previous permission by the owner. We recognize that sometimes writing partners get to know each other's styles well enough that they tend to compliment and flow together better this way.
03. BE ATTENTIVE
Mostly towards your writing. While we're certainly not hardcore on getting all your grammar correct, we at least expect to see correct spelling, or at the very least good attempts. Rereading your own posts and writing is not only a good habit, but it will also help you catch mistakes.
There is a 200 word count minimum for roleplay posts. That is not hard to accomplish, yes? Posting templates don't count towards them either.
Grammar police. We has them. Please don't lower our brain cell count any by using "net speak," or "text talk." We may have to twitch a little and die inside.
04. BE APPROPRIATE
The board is rated PG-13. Adult content is not allowed! This is basic terms of service for any proboards user. Don't go writing anything scandalous on here you wouldn't want your grandma to read, okay? Moderate swearing and violence is fine. If you want to go really far into romantic physical contact, fade to black tactfully and take it elsewhere. Not here.
05. BE ORGANIZED
While we are sticking to one account per roleplayer, please try to keep multiple characters slightly organized; if you're jumping into an open thread, for example, be sure to let the other person know which character you're using.
06. BE ACTIVE
While we don't expect you to post everyday, at least logging on occasionally shouldn't be a problem. That said, nobody is going to be keeping track. Just try not to keep people waiting. We do hate waiting for those good story updates. :3
07. BE CREATIVE
Not so much a rule as a suggestion. While there will be site arcs and events, you're going to have to find things to do yourself. Especially when creating your character, consider what his or her goals might be and then actively pursue them. Remember that socials are good too!
08. BE SOCIAL
Drop into the cbox and say "hi" sometimes. It can get pretty lonely in there. We don't bite. (Not unless you want us to...)
In short, if you have a bug up your ass, and no sense of humor...this place is not for you. The rule of no pants still contends. I rest my case.
Additional Note: Not reading the rules does not mean you are not subject to them because of ignorance. The rules apply whether you read them or not.
